Descriptions
Offers a refundable tax credit for working families and individuals while filing for income tax. Helps low- to moderate-income workers to get a tax break by using the credit to reduce the taxes owed. The amount of credit depends on if the workers have children, dependents, are disabled, or other criteria.
Eligibility
Must meet the following guidelines:
-Have earned income within certain limits and applicant or spouse and any qualifying children
-Each must have a social security number (SSN) or an individual taxpayer identification number (ITIN),
-Not use the "married/RDP filing separate" filing status, AND
-Have lived in California for more than half the tax year
Application Process
File 2020 income tax return with the IRS to potentially receive the EITC.

-Proof of income including W-2s and 1099
-Documentation of deductible expenses
-Form of Government Identification
-Social Security Card for each family member
-Account and routing numbers for checking or savings accounts for direct deposit and a faster refund
-Health Insurance Marketplace Statement (1095-A, B, and/or C)
-Copy of last year's tax returns, if available
