Provides low-income and subsidized housing for eligible low-income families, seniors, and persons with disabilities through the Public Housing and Housing Choice Voucher Program, also known as Section 8.

Public Housing - participants live in a specifically designated, federally-funded complex owned and operated by the Area Housing Authority, and rent is 30% of the household income.

Section 8 - participants select their own housing in the community of their choice within the jurisdiction, from a private landlord.

Eligibility

- Must be resident of Alpine, Amador, Calaveras, Inyo, Mariposa, Mono, or Tuolumne County

- Must meet income requirement

- Must pass a credit report inquiry

- Must pass a criminal background investigation, both local and nationwide

- Applicants on waiting list must report all changes of address, income, and family composition in writing

Documents

-Current income verification
-Birth Certificates for all family members
-Social Security Card for all family members
-Copy of Alien Registration Card (front and back) if applicable
-Driver's License or ID Card for all family members 18 years. of age or older
-Authorization form to Obtain Records signed by all family members 18 years. of age and older
-Completed Declaration of Eligibility for Assisted Housing (214 Form) for each family member
-Current proof of residency (lease, utility bill, income verification, driver's license, ID, or bank statement)
-Authorization for Release of Information signed by all family members 18 years. of age and older
